Here

where I am alone, where it is pouring pouring rain, where the yappy one is quiet, where I have spent the day crying, where I don't know my own heart, where I am listening to Gillian Welch who can soothe the really out of the way bits like I can soothe Tar's ears just to hear the sounds of relief and bliss he makes when I do that, where I discover in a moment of crazy serendipity that this video was uploaded by Phil, the Clusterflocker, a blog I've been hanging around in lately, where I feel a flash of warmth that says hey, psst, it's here! It's here! It's here.

  1. Hi Lucy and thanks for popping this up on yours. I love Gillian Welch - I kind of like the idea of posting nice footage with music that conveys part of how it feels to you...there are those of course that get terribly offended by it....just feels better than a still image...the old films seems to work well. Her voice is just a delight....want to put more of her up there.

  2. Well I typed Gillian Welch Revelator into youtube, and watched this a few times over and then noticed that it was you! Oh the footage is gorgeous, perfect for it, the way it moves through the song. The moment where the little girl who seems to be smiling a lot is practicing her walk with her legs strapped up, and then there's this brutal dolly zoom into her face, and she's got some kind of palsy, and she is completely gorgeous. So thank you! It was such a tonic the other night.

It's Gillian Welch's vibe that I love, and the way she and David Rawlings blend. I used to have this record in my old g4, and I thought I ripped most of my albums from it before I left Denmark, but apparently not, something like a third of the records I had didn't come with me. I sold the computer with an AMAZING record collection in it tho...

So, when you post another video, come by and let me know. It's a treat.

  4. Oh that sounds like such a great way to get a lot of music, in ones and twos, so you don't have like 5 albums to digest in one go (as is my wont). Hurrah! You are super welcome to email me at herecomeslucy(AT) gmail (DOT) com. Ace.

So did you find that video complete, or did you edit segments together? I know a few people in New York with extensive archives of video and film, mostly old and very old stuff, and they both 'refurbish' it and there are also curated evenings on a theme. Do you do this also?
